There comes a time in everyone’s life when one says, “I need a break from my daily routine – I gotta get outta town.” This happened to my friends and myself when I was at Columbia. We decided we just had to get away from books, term papers, lectures – the whole bit.

On a sunny afternoon in early October, I decided to take a walk down to 76 Greene Street in Manhattan’s Soho district to take a look at an unusual apartment.

Was I looking to buy or rent? No, I was merely intrigued. When surfing the web I inadvertently saw “The Apartment by The Line” that said, “Open to the public on Saturdays, 11 am to 6 pm”. Why not I thought?

After a few missteps, I found the door to 76 Greene, entered and pushed the elevator button to the third floor. My jaw dropped as I stepped out into a light-filled, spacious loft with high ceilings and jaw-dropping furnishings and accessories.

One of my hobbies is cycling. When I began to look at cycling as a sport, a tip shared with me was to always keep your core warm and let layers be your friend. That tip may seem basic, but it's one that transcends cycling and carries over into fashion.

Recently we posted a blog on this website about the publication of a new book entitled Women in Clothes – an exhaustive study of 639 women and how they dress.

Later on, I spotted an article in the New York Observer that described a book-and-swap party to celebrate the launch of this book. It was held in Rachel Comey’s boutique in Manhattan’s Soho (she is one of the contributors in the book) and it was a festive affair of book party-and-clothing swap rolled into one – accompanied by lots of champagne.
