With Valentine's Day behind us, I thought it would be a great time to focus on you. It is easy getting caught up in the whirlwind of taking care of others, whether your children, spouse, friends or family. In turn, I wanted to take this post as an opportunity to share different ways you can treat yourself.

Now I’d like to dig deeper into this subject by taking a look at “Alexa” – a name I really like because I have a cute five-year-old relative with that name. Last month I wrote about Crazy Rich Asians, the first book in an over-the-top trilogy written by Kevin Kwan. Full disclosure: I didn’t even KNOW there were three books until an Asian acquaintance, with a classy Australian accent, told me she was reading Book #3.

With all of the new fashion coming at us, especially with spring collections hitting the stores, it's easy to get caught up in the latest trends or styling fads. I must admit, I’ve never given much thought to Valentine’s Day – as an adult that is – it’s different when one is a child. We’ll bring this up again later. To start, let’s look at the options for this special day.

One of the best features of the Weekend Financial Times is the ever-popular “Lunch with the FT” where a crackerjack writer interviews a famous celebrity for one-to-two hours. Questions and answers are weaved into the lunch that often starts with: why this particular restaurant was chosen (by the interviewee), what appetizers or entrées to order, and finally, what midday drinks should be ordered (if at all). 

I know very little about military life, but after reading an in-depth article about four young women at an air base in the middle of a desert on the Arabian Peninsula I was very impressed.

In the late summer and fall of 2018 a tsunami of publicity for the movie Crazy Rich Asians hit America. In August there was a write-up in the New York Post, New Yorker and the Weekend Financial Times (a big, bold headline on the front page – very unusual).

We’re entering a brand new year so I believe it’s time to tackle a subject I’ve been avoiding: Artificial Intelligence. Why have I been skirting around AI for so long? Full disclosure: No matter how much I read about it – I still don’t really grasp it.

“Oh God, I have to get rid of these extra pounds!”

This is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions – whether it’s five pounds or 50 many people say to themselves, “It’s a new year and I’m starting with a clean slate, so this is it.” Eating healthy (no potato chips) and bringing one’s weight down is #1 on this list.
