I recently came across a list of 30 Lessons I’ve Learned – In Honor of My 30th Birthday, written by Robert Cocuzzo. I think it’s terrific, so I retyped it and made minor edits -- plus I’ve added a few personal comments.

On Friday, July 1st we decided it was time to see the current exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum with the provocative title, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology before it ended on August 14th. It’s not smart to delay these things because there is so much to do in New York that a date can just fly by without one noticing.

On Saturday, June 4th I decided to see an exhibit at the Jewish Museum located on Fifth Avenue and 92nd Street in Manhattan. Why was I interested in doing this? Although I hadn't ever met Bill Cunningham, I became touched by him. Whether it was his apparent humble manner - he was often seen in his "uniform" of a blue worker's jacket, khakis and sneakers and he had lived in a Carnegie Hall studio that didn't even include a kitchen - to his relentless hunt for that fashion moment - he rode his bike, rain or shine, around Manhattan, Mr. Cunningham was a man that transcended fashion.

In Manhattan, the Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Columbia and other Ivy League clubs are located between West 43rd and 44th Streets just off Fifth Avenue.
I was in the lobby of one of these clubs recently and observed a young lady, who was seated directly across from me, chatting on her cellphone while shuffling papers on her lap.
