This is it. The last week of first grade. Where has the time gone? I swear she was just born and this summer Lillyana will be seven.
The end of the school year always brings new challenges. Not just adjusting to a new schedule with the 8 million camps she wil be attending, but also realizing she is not a baby anymore. I'm not needed to read books - nope, she can do it on her own. She can pick out her own (very stylish) outfits. She can drive herself to school - ok, that is being dramatic - but I can't help but think it is right around the corner.

I made an impulse purchase the other night – something I am generally not prone to do. After finishing up with a client in the shoe department at Lord & Taylor, I headed out the exit next to the handbag and accessory department and was immediately stopped in my tracks by the most perfect leather backpack that I had ever laid eyes on.
As the summer rolls in it is time to spend more time outside and less time plugged in. While my children would probably love it if the television reached the backyard, we make a big effort that we spend hours outside this time of year. After our harsh New England winter we all need it!
When it comes to finding delicious recipes, there's no need to reinvent the wheel. Taking a classic recipe and just adding a few little tweaks here and there can elevate it to an entirely new level. These banana bread muffins are one such recipe. With the addition of white whole wheat flour, they are healthier than our average muffin.
