Summer Swimwear

July 23, 2018

With summer in full swing, a dip in a pool or the sea can sound quite refreshing. Yet, deciding what to wear can pose its own set of challenges. With so many brands and styles available, how do you choose which is right for you?

Although lingerie does offer its own challenges that can differ from swimwear, you may want to start by taking a look back at my three-part series on bra fitting, beginning with: Finding Your Perfect Bra - Part One.

Now, let's get back to swimwear.

One-Piece or Bikini

This is a good place to start when narrowing down your options. First and foremost, it should be said that one-piece swimwear has made a huge comeback within the last few years, meaning, there many fashionable options to choose from geared towards a range of individuals. Knowing both options are available to you, let's move onto the second point...

When you wear a swimsuit, you are wearing next to nothing, and you are doing this in public. In turn, it's vital you feel comfortable in what you are wearing. You need to feel confident, and that you "own" this look. I know this may be easier said than done, although, you can achieve this by - after choosing a one-piece or bikini - take a close look at the...

Fabric and Cut

Just like all lingerie, not all swimwear is made equal. Be sure to look at the fabric to ensure it feels nice against your skin and offers the right amount of coverage you are looking for in a swimsuit; in other words, the fabric has the thickness you feel most comfortable in. As it relates to cut, which is probably the factor that ties all of these key points together, ensure the swimsuit offers a cut that is right for you.

Whether you choose a one-piece or bikini, do you feel comfortable in showing more abs, more cleavage or more of your derrière? Start with the part of your body you are most confident in and work from there. For example, if you work hard for your abs and are proud of them, why not start by looking at bikinis. If you have a larger bust, maybe you want to choose a bikini top with more coverage. Or, if you are more conscience about your butt, maybe you want to choose a full coverage bikini bottom.

There are many swimwear options on the market today so enjoy exploring what is available and happy swimming!

P.S. An Adea Tee is great for layering over your swimsuit, especially for when you are going to/from the beach.
