This very revealing quote is from an interview with the South American actress and businesswoman, Sophia Vergara that appeared in the October issue of InStyle magazine. Written by Mike Sager, the piece gives an interesting insight into the remarkable life and success of this 43-year-old dynamo.

Starting in Barranquilla, Colombia
Vergara had her first career breakthrough when she was only 17-years-old. She appeared in a TV commercial for Pepsi that took off like a rocket. “I had offers for TV shows, movies and commercials in Colombia,” she says. Instead of pursuing her entertainment career she got married, dropped out of dental school and had a baby. Then things changed. “I got divorced and, as a result, started thinking about what I was going to do for my son.”
Appealing to Latinos and non-Latinos
Today Vergara is Forbes magazine’s top-earning television actress. This four-time Emmy nominee reportedly makes more than $300,000 per episode on Modern Family. She also has lucrative endorsement and licensing deals with CoverGirl, Head & Shoulders, Kay Jewelers and Rooms to Go.
Remarkably, she is a co-founder of Latin World Entertainment, a talent management and entertainment-marketing firm. This translates into a multimillion-dollar empire that includes a Spanish-language tech news site.

Marrying after 20 years as a single
Her son has just graduated from Emerson College and, very shortly she is getting married to a handsome, 6-foot-5 actor, Joe Manganiello who is 38-years-old and appeared in True Blood and Magic Mike XXL plus a recent movie with Reese Witherspoon (Hot Pursuit).
In conclusion, we can say that stunning Vergara is first among equals. Both famous and fabulously wealthy, she is also the co-founder of a business empire who is taking a run at happiness for the second time.

I just read an article that sounded – to me at least – like “a canary in a coal mine” or an early warning of danger. This piece, written by Joe Pompeo, appeared in the May 2020 issue of Vanity Fair magazine with the title “The British Tabloid Invasion” and a subtitle that read, “How the Daily Mail is conquering American gossip.”

Apparently the good old U.S. is a nation of “not great” sleepers. Really? And I thought I was the only one! According to a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention it was revealed that one out of three Americans are chronically sleep-deprived. Yikes!

I think we’re all taken by the incredible mystique of the famous French fashion house, Hermès that has been with us for two centuries and is still owned and operated by the same family. From its beginnings in fine equestrian leather goods, they are – in the tumultuous year 2020 – best known for their handbags and many other items.
My image of Hermès has always been rarified products at equally rarified prices so imagine my surprise when I recently received a very stylish publication of theirs in the mail.
