We are thrilled to introduce our guest blogger and stylist, Marisa. Each week Marisa will use her expertise to bring you fresh style ideas, fashion news, and tips for wearing Adea’s pieces. Marisa currently works for Stilista|Boston, Boston’s full-service style agency. As a personal shopper and stylist, Marisa educates her clients about the cuts and proportions that are best suited for their body type and selects fashion-forward yet classic pieces that will stand the test of time. She helps each of her clients to build and maintain a wardrobe and style that not only suits their lifestyle, but also expresses their unique personality.

In addition - so as not to let her English major from Colby College go to waste - Marisa writes on a weekly basis about fashion trends, tips and tricks for Stilista|Boston’s blog and is the author of a daily Facebook series entitled, “Stylist Tip of the Day,” for which she posts a daily fashion tip for her Facebook audience. What started as a personal challenge of sorts has turned into a well-followed and much “liked” daily routine. She resolves to finish out the year without missing a single day.

When shopping for and styling herself, Marisa selects pieces with simple silhouettes, but a bit of a tough-girl edge. As a result, she has a very hard time turning down a great pair of dark, raw denim jeans, a fabulous pair of leather boots or a fitted leather jacket.

We asked Marisa a few questions to get to know her better…

What is your must-have accessory?:
I’m not that big on accessories for myself as I tend to make the focus of my outfits more about layering and the interesting combination of pieces and silhouettes. However, my left wrist has 3 woven “friendship” bracelets on it that never come off and I rarely leave the house without adding 3-4 leather wrap bracelets to the pile. Oh, and I LOVE scarves. My neck is rarely without one from September through May.

Who is your favorite style icon?:
Gwen Stefani. Without a doubt. She is a style innovator, not just an icon. She has as signature look – the platinum hair, the red lips and the rock star glamour - yet each outfit feels fresh, new, exciting and somehow unexpected. And she has an amazing knack for successfully combining opposites – hard and soft, clashing patterns and colors, masculine and feminine, sweet and tough, preppy and punk…the list goes on.

If you could revive something from the 80’s what would it be?:
I think that most of it – for better or for worse – has been revived already. What I respond to most on a personal level is the head-toe-denim trend. I love an oversized, pale chambray shirt over a pair of dark denim skinny jeans. It is an insanely simple way to get dressed and looks great with a pair of boots and a leather jacket.

Dolce & Gabbana Rock

November 07, 2018

After reading about Dolce & Gabbana’s new shop at 155 Mercer Street in Manhattan’s SoHo, I decided to pay a visit to see these digs for myself. On Friday, August 17th when it was close to 90 degrees F. I took the Downtown #6 subway and got off at Spring Street (a 10-minute trip). This left me at Spring/Lafayette and from there I walked west to Mercer where I crossed the street and took a short walk to 155 – all told a fairly easy jaunt.

Fashion Week - Street Style Trends

November 04, 2018

There is something fun about watching the designer's vision on the runway. Yes, not all of the looks are practical, but it helps to bring what once were drawings and ideas to life. That part of the creative process is interesting to me. When it comes to street style, I have grown to appreciate this fashion scene.

BODYWEAR

We use Italian lingerie sizing  for our bodywear and items tend to run small.

Because of the body-hugging nature of the fabric and our body conscious fit most women prefer to wear our layering tops as under-layers. If you are inclined to wear them on their own we suggest you size up. Please email us or give us a call if you have questions about your sizing. We're happy to help you get it right.

MODAL TEES

Relaxed fit. Wear alone or over any of our layering tees or camisoles.

Please email us or give us a call if you have questions about your sizing. We're happy to help you get it right.
