Christmas is a exactly week away and I, for one, am busy trying to tie up loose ends. While the major gifts have been purchased, they still need to be wrapped, the last of my Christmas cards still need to be sent and I have to figure out what to put in my husband’s stocking.
He filled mine to the brim with thoughtful and useful gifts last year and while his was nothing to scoff at, I am determined to get a little more creative this year. Just in case you are in the same predicament trying to fill your loved ones stocking, I thought I would share some of my brainstorming and some of his stocking-filling genius with you.
Lip Treatment
Splurge a little here and skip the CVS brand lip lube. Spring for something a little more luxurious such as a name brand lip moisturizer, tint or exfoliant.
Favorite Snack
Whether it’s nuts, chips, dried fruit or candy, the recipient will be tickled pink that you took notice.
Favorite Beverage
A box of tea, bag of coffee or tin of hot cocoa is season-appropriate and comforting.
Favorite Breath Freshener
A supply of your giftee’s favorite gum or mints will not only keep their breath fresh, but it will save them a trip or two to the local drug or corner store.
Hair/Head Accessory
Hair ties, hair clips, workout headbands and hats all qualify here.
Music
Whether it’s an album or a personally crafted mix, music is always a crowd-pleaser.
Underwear
Fresh undies are always a treat, whether they are a tried-and-true favorite or something new. (Give Adea’s thongs, boyshorts and panties a try! They are sure to please!)
Gift Cards
You know the places that they frequent, so give them a little bit of free money to spend!
Tool
Perhaps your loved one loves to cook, craft or tackle home improvements. If so, chances are that there is a tool or gadget that they have been lusting after.
Socks
Give a fun design like leopard print or camouflage or a luxurious fabric like cashmere or angora. Their warm toes will thank you all winter long!
Book
Perhaps your loved one’s favorite author has a new book out or their favorite series has another addition. Or, just maybe, there is a how-to book or “fill-in-the-blank” for Dummies edition that will give your giftee the guidance they need to tackle a project in the New Year.
Magazine Subscription
Include the current edition of the magazine in the stocking with a note about the subscription and watch faces light up at the thought of a gift every month for the next year!
Accessories for Tech Gadgets
Whether it’s a case, a new set of earphones, an armband or a decorative charm, these sorts of add-ons are always appreciated.
Hopefully this exercise has helped you as much as it has helped me!! Best of luck over the next week! Happy Holidays!

I just read an article that sounded – to me at least – like “a canary in a coal mine” or an early warning of danger. This piece, written by Joe Pompeo, appeared in the May 2020 issue of Vanity Fair magazine with the title “The British Tabloid Invasion” and a subtitle that read, “How the Daily Mail is conquering American gossip.”

Apparently the good old U.S. is a nation of “not great” sleepers. Really? And I thought I was the only one! According to a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention it was revealed that one out of three Americans are chronically sleep-deprived. Yikes!

I think we’re all taken by the incredible mystique of the famous French fashion house, Hermès that has been with us for two centuries and is still owned and operated by the same family. From its beginnings in fine equestrian leather goods, they are – in the tumultuous year 2020 – best known for their handbags and many other items.
My image of Hermès has always been rarified products at equally rarified prices so imagine my surprise when I recently received a very stylish publication of theirs in the mail.
